Side Bridge
Also known as: Side Plank
Side Bridge is a strength exercise using body only that trains the abdominals.
StrengthBody OnlyBeginnerStatic
Primary muscles: Abdominals
Secondary muscles: Shoulders
How to do it
- Lie on your side on the floor with your legs straight and stacked, propped up on your forearm with your elbow directly beneath your shoulder.
- Brace your core and lift your hips off the floor until your body forms a straight line from your head to your feet. This will be your position for the hold.
- Keep your hips square and do not let them sag toward the floor. Breathe steadily throughout.
- Hold for the recommended amount of time, then lower your hips back to the floor and switch sides.
