Primary muscles: Traps

Secondary muscles: Neck

How to do it

  1. Sit or stand tall with your shoulders relaxed and drawn down away from your ears.
  2. Reach one hand up and over the top of your head, resting it just above your opposite ear.
  3. Gently guide your head toward your shoulder until you feel an easy stretch along the side of your neck and the top of your shoulder. Let the weight of your hand do the work, without pulling hard.
  4. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds, breathing slowly, then switch sides.
