Secondary muscles: Side Delts, Triceps

How to do it

  1. Set a barbell on a rack at about upper-chest height. Load the bar, then grasp it with a pronated grip slightly wider than shoulder width.
  2. Step under the bar and rest it across your upper chest and front shoulders, keeping your elbows slightly in front of the bar.
  3. Unrack the bar, step back, and set your feet about shoulder width apart. Brace your core and keep the bar just in front of your upper chest. This is your starting position.
  4. Press the bar straight overhead as you exhale, moving your head slightly back so the bar can travel vertically. Finish with your arms locked out and the bar over your shoulders.
  5. Lower the bar under control back to your upper chest as you inhale.
  6. Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.
